Dr. Mark Swanson Co-Authors Study on Sebaceous Carcinoma Published in Cancers

Dr. Mark Swanson and colleagues recently published a systematic review and meta-analysis in Cancers titled, “Regional Lymph Node Metastasis in Sebaceous Carcinoma of the Head and Neck,” as part of the journal’s Special Issue, Precision Oncology for Rare Skin Cancers. The study examined patterns of lymph node spread in sebaceous carcinoma, a rare but potentially aggressive skin cancer affecting the head and neck region.

The research identified a high rate of occult lymph node metastasis, suggesting that sentinel lymph node biopsy may be an appropriate consideration for many patients with these cancers. These findings may help inform future approaches to staging, risk assessment, and treatment planning for patients with head and neck sebaceous carcinoma.
